Team story
Origins
The RB designation appeared in 2024 when AlphaTauri became Visa Cash App RB. The change coincided with Franz Tost’s departure: Laurent Mekies took charge of the racing team and Peter Bayer served as chief executive. The Italian base at Faenza continued its work, now with the VCARB 01 and a new commercial identity.
The Formula 1 journey
Yuki Tsunoda and Daniel Ricciardo began the season together. Tsunoda secured seventh places, including at Melbourne; Ricciardo also contributed fourth in the Miami Sprint, which was not a Grand Prix podium. After Singapore his seat went to Liam Lawson, who contested the final six races to be evaluated alongside his Japanese team-mate.
Historical timeline
Three chapters in the story of RB F1 Team
Three episodes to revisit the people, cars and races that shaped this journey.
First appearance · Bahrain Grand Prix
Daniel Ricciardo · Bahrain Grand Prix 2024. The recorded position is P13; this number alone does not show whether the driver completed the race distance. This is the first recorded race start, or the first entry if the team never started a race.
Sporting landmark · Australian Grand Prix
Yuki Tsunoda · Australian Grand Prix 2024. The recorded position is P7; this number alone does not show whether the driver completed the race distance. This marks the first win or podium where one exists, otherwise the highest recorded placing for this constructor.
Latest recorded appearance · Abu Dhabi Grand Prix
Liam Lawson · Abu Dhabi Grand Prix 2024. The recorded position is P17; this number alone does not show whether the driver completed the race distance. This is the last race start attributed to this constructor in the archive, not necessarily the end of the organisation behind it.
A distinctive way of racing
The team shared its ownership with Red Bull Racing, but had a separate entry, car and results. The arrival of new executives accompanied closer technical synergies and the planned move of its British base from Bicester to the Milton Keynes campus. The young-driver programme remained central, without reducing Tsunoda or Ricciardo to mere temporary occupants.
What remains
In 2025 the name became Racing Bulls: the archive’s RB ID therefore defines 2024, not every subsequent season of the organisation. That year’s 46 points belong to the VCARB 01 and its three drivers. Vettel’s victory with Toro Rosso and Gasly’s with AlphaTauri remain under their respective identities, although both form part of Faenza’s history.
