The RB9 refined the high-rake architecture Red Bull had developed since 2009. Its Coanda-effect exhaust guided hot gas towards the diffuser edges and rear brake ducts, helping seal the underfloor flow. Deep sidepod undercuts, disciplined vortex control and carefully managed ride height kept rear downforce stable, allowing Vettel to use the throttle as an aerodynamic tool as well as an accelerator.
Nine victories without interruption
The season became a demonstration after the summer break. Sebastian Vettel won every race from Belgium to Brazil, secured his fourth consecutive Drivers' title in India and set a then-record run of nine Grand Prix victories. Together with Mark Webber's points, the RB9 delivered Red Bull's fourth consecutive Constructors' Championship and 13 wins from 19 races.
