T stands for transverse
Mauro Forghieri placed the five-speed gearbox transversely ahead of the rear axle, shortening the car and concentrating its mass. Combined with the low 180-degree flat-12 and revised suspension, the layout gave the 312 T the balance, traction and reliability that its predecessor had lacked.
Ferrari's return after eleven years
Niki Lauda won five races and secured the 1975 Drivers' Championship while Clay Regazzoni's Monza victory helped Ferrari take the Constructors' crown. The displayed model represents the closely related 1976 version, carrying the number one earned by Lauda in the original 312 T.
