Opened in 1990 as TI Circuit Aida, the compact venue in the hills of Okayama hosted the Pacific Grand Prix in 1994 and 1995. Its narrow, stop-start layout offered few passing opportunities and Formula 1 left after only two editions.
Michael Schumacher won both races. In 1994 Ayrton Senna was eliminated in a first-lap collision, while Schumacher's 1995 victory helped him secure his second World Championship with two rounds still remaining.
Across 3.703 km, its 11 corners create a distinct rhythm between braking, precision and acceleration. As a permanent racing circuit, it asks drivers and teams to adapt setup, tyre management and race strategy to the venue's particular constraints, while its clockwise direction shapes the sequence of its most demanding sectors.
