Ferrari extended the wheelbase while preserving the compact sidepod philosophy introduced a year earlier. The car generated strong load without sacrificing too much efficiency, and its power unit allowed it to challenge Mercedes on a broader range of circuits.

Sebastian Vettel won five Grands Prix and Kimi Räikkönen added victory in Austin. Errors and development setbacks eventually ended the title bid, but the SF71H remains one of Ferrari's most complete cars of the hybrid era.
