Gordon Murray shaped the BT44 around a narrow, triangular-section monocoque that left clean paths for the airflow and placed the radiators along the sides. The geometry was unconventional, but the mechanical package remained deliberately simple: a Hewland gearbox and the proven Cosworth DFV made the car light, serviceable and effective across very different circuits.
