Year1982Memorable racesLauda wins in the first year of his return
Niki Lauda returned to Formula 1 in 1982 after more than two seasons away. At Brands Hatch he won the British Grand Prix ahead of the Ferraris of Pironi and Tambay, taking his second victory of the year. The result showed that his comeback was not nostalgic: he could still control a race and prevail on a fast, demanding circuit. The classification also reflects a fragmented season in which leading contenders alternated victories and retirements. Brands Hatch therefore adds a different chapter from Mansell's first win already preserved in the archive: not the arrival of a new winner, but proof that a returning champion could rebuild a career at the highest level.

The 1985 European Grand Prix brought Mansell his first championship victory, ahead of Senna’s Lotus and Rosberg’s sister Williams, with Prost fourth. Established champions and emerging stars shared the undulating Brands Hatch circuit. For Mansell, a home venue became the place where years of promise finally turned into a winning result.
