Adelaide joined Formula 1 in 1985 as a fast street circuit around Victoria Park and became the traditional season finale. Its original Grand Prix course was replaced by a shorter local layout after F1 moved to Melbourne in 1996.
Its defining race was the 1986 title decider: Nigel Mansell's tyre failed on the Brabham Straight and Alain Prost won both the Grand Prix and the championship. The rain-shortened 1991 event also remains the shortest completed F1 race by distance.
Across 3.780 km, its 16 corners create a distinct rhythm between braking, precision and acceleration. As a street circuit, it asks drivers and teams to adapt setup, tyre management and race strategy to the venue's particular constraints, while its clockwise direction shapes the sequence of its most demanding sectors.
